AANSU – 🇬🇧UK Chapter is pleased to share an update on its Second Pillar Members’ Meeting, dedicated to the Membership & Alumni Engagement Team ✍️
📝The meeting was held under the guidance of Sarkar Islam Shimul, President of AANSU – UK Chapter, bringing together key members of the Executive Committee to discuss strategic priorities, upcoming initiatives and ways to strengthen membership growth and alumni engagement across the United Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by:
➡️ Mohammad Shafy – Secretary
➡️ Saima Rahman Tamanna – Vice President
➡️ Mushfekazzaman Usha – Membership & Alumni Relations Director
➡️ Oumit Hasan – Joint Secretary
✍️The discussion focused on strengthening collaboration, defining team responsibilities and developing practical initiatives to expand plan to expand the AANSU–UK Chapter community. Discussions covered the following key areas:
✅ Membership Registration & Recruitment
The team discussed promoting free membership registration among NSU alumni across the UK, highlighting the benefits of joining AANSU. An initial target of recruiting at least 100 new members was proposed. Team members were encouraged to reach out to their personal networks, friends, classmates, seniors and fellow alumni to support this initiative.
✅ Membership Database & Communication
The importance of developing a centralised membership database was highlighted. The database will help maintain accurate member information and facilitate effective communication through email and other official channels. A designated team member will be responsible for maintaining and updating the records.
✅ Alumni Outreach & Engagement
The team discussed strengthening direct communication with NSU alumni, including those who have recently moved or are planning to move to the UK for higher education, professional opportunities or employment. The possibility of connecting with relevant NSU networks to reach incoming alumni was also explored.
✅ Official Facebook Page & Digital Outreach
The team considered using the official AANSU–UK Chapter Facebook page to approach and communicate with prospective members. This will help ensure a more consistent and professional approach to alumni outreach. Responsibilities for contacting alumni and following up will be shared among designated team members.
✅ Newsletter & Digital Media Initiatives
The importance of introducing a regular AANSU–UK Chapter newsletter was discussed. It could feature upcoming events, chapter activities, membership growth, alumni achievements, career opportunities and important announcements. The possibility of developing a YouTube channel and other digital media initiatives to showcase alumni experiences and achievements was also raised for further discussion with the relevant teams.
✅ Career Opportunities & Alumni Support
The team discussed exploring ways to connect alumni through career guidance, professional networking, job opportunities and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Collaboration with other teams will be encouraged to create meaningful opportunities and strengthen the support network for NSU alumni.
✅ Highlighting Chapter Activities & Achievements
The importance of organising visible activities, events and media coverage was emphasised. Regular updates, photographs and highlights from completed and upcoming programmes will help demonstrate the chapter’s progress, strengthen its public profile and build credibility when approaching alumni, organisations and potential partners.
✅ Team Responsibilities & Coordination
The team was encouraged to review all areas under its portfolio rather than focusing solely on membership registration. Clear responsibilities, effective communication and collaboration with the Organising Team and other relevant members will be essential to ensure smooth implementation.
✅ Team Planning & Execution
The President emphasised that each team should take ownership of its own initiatives, develop practical proposals and lead their execution. The President and Central Team will provide guidance, support and assistance wherever required. However, planning and implementation should be driven by the respective teams.
📌 Moving Forward
The team will work towards the initial target of registered alumni, maintain regular communication with Executive Committee members and provide updates on recruitment progress. Upcoming initiatives should be planned in advance, with clear responsibilities and realistic timelines.
The team is also expected to finalise its immediate execution plan and begin implementing the agreed activities without unnecessary delays. Progress, individual contributions and overall team performance will be reviewed during monthly coordination meetings, with a broader assessment after six months.
🤝 Through teamwork, commitment and effective collaboration, AANSU–UK Chapter aims to build a stronger, more active and well-connected alumni community across the United Kingdom.
